Together, they move into an off-base apartment in Alexandra, Virginia to start their marriage. Over the years, Garret and Stella must negotiate the complications of Army hierarchy, substandard housing, fluctuating finances, job losses, earning a postgrad degree, European travel, starting businesses, paying mortgages, raising two children – yet all the while taking time to celebrate the magical moments in life.
